A guided tour to discover the prisons of the Republic of Venice, created in 1500 and connected to the Doge's Palace through the Bridge of Sighs. The right occasion to explore the cold cells and discover how Casanova managed to escape!
Tour available everyday (except Monday) at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, duration approx. 1h. Meeting point at Palazzo Delle Prigioni, next to Palazzo Ducale in Piazza San Marco.
The following tour is not private, but can be shared with other participants. It will be organised in groups of maximum 15 participants per tour.
Our multilingual guide will allow you to discover the secrets of the ancient Prisons of St Mark's Square, one of the first prisons in Europe. In this secret itinerary you will observe the torture room, the cold cells and understand the lifestyle of the prisoners. You will also discover the original graffiti left by the prisoners and the story of Casanova, the only one who managed to escape from the maximum security prison "Piombi".
